The University of Bath has a very active Widening Participation Office which aims to introduce groups that are under-represented in higher education to the university experience. I was the first in my family to go to university and so understand the importance of the work that the team is doing. The Widening Participation Office organises a number of summer schools and residentials where young people can immerse themselves in all aspects of university life including; lectures, project work, research and debates as well as social and sporting activities. A team of trained student ambassadors support the Widening Participation staff and make a valuable contribution to all of the activities.
